The Heavy Towing Kansas City Team at Sante Fe Tow Service was called upon by the Overland Park Police Department to help with an overturned truck on Route 59. The truck driver seemingly took the exit turn a little too hot and lost control of the fully loaded tractor trailer. The tractor trailer ended up completely on its side in a ditch on the side of the road!
The Sante Fe heavy towing team arrived on scene ready to jump straight into action. The call from the police department came in at 2PM and the towing team wanted to get the accident cleared before rush hour hit. This left them with a little under three hours to completely upright and tow a 80,000 lb loaded tractor trailer.
In order to facilitate an efficient and safe recovery, the team placed five Matjack jumbo recovery cushions under the tractor trailer. At the same time, they hooked up two straps from the trailer to their 50 ton rotator and 55 ton rotator. For the first half of the lift, the rotators did not have to do any work. Once the tractor trailer was at a 40 degree angle angle, the team completed uprighting the truck using the heavy duty rotators.
The heavy towing team’s expertise really shone through during this job. They were able to safely upright and tow away the truck without causing any further damage to it. On top of that, they completed it all before rush hour! Fantastic work out there!
